Bench Shirt Adjustments

For my equipped lifters out there! What types of adjustments can you make to tighten up your shirts?

This video covers that topic! First start with simply getting the shirt on correctly and setting it in place. We have a separate video on this. Most beginners may just want to start there for a while

Adjustments are for a more advanced bencher because it will make the weight a little harder to touch and potentially control. It takes a lot more skill to work in a very tight shirt

First thing I do with Elvis in this video is adjust the collar lower. A lower collar is going to give you more pop, but again it will be harder to touch because there's more stretch around the chest. Similar to wearing a slingshot very low on the arms. Material has to stretch over more area. I typically like my collar low anyways especially in this SDP because it puts me in the exact groove I need.

Next I slide his arms down, pinch and bunch up the material behind his triceps. Again wearing the tricep seams lower will create a tighter sensation and make it a lot harder to touch. The bunching of the material does the same. Something I have been working on myself is keeping that outwards tension into the triceps as I bench and getting a better tuck into the material

Another thing I'll typically do is torque the arms in a bit. Something I'll do getting the shirt on, or I'll take it off and readjust for a 3rd attempt. Put the shirt on palms up

I have worn this exact shirt competing at 198 to 275. 590 to 710 bench. It is an old used SDP off Ebay. I have worked in this for over 3 years now and know exactly where I need it to be for each given attempt. You'll learn as you practice in your shirt where you best need it and when you actually need the adjustments. Again if you're just starting out, I wouldn't get this aggressive off the bat
